How to connect the Window Server using Ansible?

 Description: Here I have explained, How to connect the Windows Server using Ansible?

Setup:

  1. Ansible Machine [172.31.27.195]
  2. Windows Server 2019 [172.31.17.192]
Create windows user for Ansible 
  • Open Computer Management on Your Windows System and go to local User and Groups
  • Right Click and Create New User fill all required details and select password never expire

  • Add user in Administrator group
  • Install WinRM in windows server using PowerShell script save file as winrm.ps1

  • Run winrm.ps1 and you will get the output as follow 




Install WinRM in Ansible machine 
  • WinRM stands for Windows Remote Management. It allows you to perform management tasks  on remote systems using below command
# pip install pywinrm




Add Windows Machine in Ansible Host file 

  • Add windows machine in ansible host file as follow and save it
# vi /etc/ansible/hosts

172.31.17.192

ansible_user=Ansible
ansible_password=P@ssw0rd123
ansible_connection=winrm
ansible_port=5986

  • Test windows machine using below command
